My other favorite books on Readers' Workshop:

"Click here" links are pdfs - doc version (when available) is at the end of each description.

Click here to download a curriculum map I created of the 2nd grade FL Sunshine State Standards for Reading/Language Arts with CAFE Strategies and Chapter references from these two books included. I made this to help myself find mini lessons more easily throughout the year. So far it is really helping me with my lesson planning. It also makes me feel more confident that I AM addressing the standards as I should! [2ndGradeFLandRWCorrelations.doc]

Click here to download my version of the CAFE menu - all columns are blank and converted to FACE ("The FACE of a Reader") which I will give to my students to add to over the course of the year. [FACE blank.doc]

Click here to download labels for the above blank CAFE menu - these are labels (rows of 10 of each strategy) with all of the CAFE strategies to stick to the blank menu as they are taught - I left a margin on the right side of each label because I think they will need to be trimmed in order to fit on the menu. [cafelabels.doc]

Click here to download some reading logs I created to go with the sequence of strategies and skills I intend to teach. The logs change each month so that students are recording information related to the strategies we are learning about each book they read. [readinglogs.doc]

Click here to download headers for a CAFE (FACE) bulletin board - these are meant to be trimmed and mounted on black construction paper. (See photos below) I decided to change CAFE to FACE because I feel the concept of a "Cafe" is not very meaningful to my students. The first week of school, we will make self portraits showing ourselves as readers to post around the board. [face.doc]
