Teaching Ideas: Number of the Day
I have been reading a lot online about a math activity revolving around choosing a "Number of the Day" and assigning students to make that number in a variety of different ways. I found a few examples of this on various websites, but nothing fit exactly what I wanted to do with my students. So, I made my own version of this activity, at three varying levels of difficulty (1 to 20, 20 to 100, and 100 and up).
CLICK HERE to download all three versions from TeachersPayTeachers.com! Enjoy!

I have been playing with Promethean's ActivInspire software in anticipation of our school getting several ActivBoards this spring. I have made a flipchart to go with the number of the day activity above. Click here to download! This flipchart covers numbers 1 through 20. Keep in mind this is my first attempt at a flipchart so I don't really know what I am doing! That said, I think it came out pretty good! I will be creating flipcharts for other two versions of my Number of the Day activity very soon! (Update Summer 2010 - we are not getting ActivBoards - we are getting Mimio Boards - so needless to say, I will not be updating this.)
Website visitors can help our classroom by purchasing items from my Amazon Wishlist or making a PayPal donation - all donations and ad revenue received on this site are spent on classroom books and other materials.
Parents - you can also help our classroom by purchasing books for your child from Scholastic book orders. Many books are $2 or less! Every order placed earns bonus points which I use to purchase books and other classroom materials. Every monthly order totaling $20 or more earns us a coupon for $10 in free books for our classroom. If you order online, I get an additional free book pick, which I will use to select a book for your child!
Click the link below to place an order! Username and password are both "maiolo." FGCU students, feel free to order as well! This is a very inexpensive way to get books for your future classroom!
